Dickinson County Fair begins

NORWAY - The 102nd Dickinson County Fair begins today, and runs through Labor Day at the fairgrounds in Norway.

The fair starts today with Preview Day and wraps up on Monday, Sept. 3.

Entertainment on Saturday night includes Next Myle, Hot Rod Express Band and Bad Axe Rodeo.

Unlimited rides with a daily wristband cost $20. A mega band, which is good for rides all week, costs $60.

Rides are $1 each from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Labor Day.

American Legion Post No. 50 will host bingo from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and on Monday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Demolition Derby State Line Challenge is at 8 p.m. on Friday in the grandstands.

Grandstand ticket prices are as follows:

- Horse and pony pulls for ages six years and up, $5.

- All Demolition Derby seats, $10.

- U.P. Small Car championship, ages six years and up, $5.

- Labor Day "100" Race, children $5, adults $10.

- Tractor and truck pull, ages six years and up, $5.

Wednesday, Aug. 29 - Preview Day

4 p.m. to close, pre-fair opening of Skerbeck Carnival (bracelet night)

Thursday, Aug. 30 - Exhibitor Day

9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all other animal entries

10 a.m. to 8 p.m., all other still entries accepted

1 p.m. to 4 p.m., cooking contest - chili cook-off

3 p.m. to 10 p.m., bingo

4 p.m. to close, carnival opens (bracelet night)

4 p.m. to 10 p.m., market and breeding animals entries (beef, swine, sheep and goats)

4 p.m. to 10 p.m., open animal entries (beef, wine, sheep and goats)

4:30 p.m., breeding livestock show

5 p.m., official opening of the fair

7 p.m., U.P. Small Car Championship

Friday, Aug. - Youth Day

7 a.m. to noon, all youth and open dairy entries

8:30 a.m., judging (except those listed)

11 a.m., draft horse show

1 p.m., youth market livestock show (beef, swine, sheep and goats)

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., cooking contest - Blue Ribbon pie

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., cooking contest - Your Best Chocolate recipe

1 p.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m., Barnyard Express

3 p.m, 5 p.m., American Lumber Jack Show

1 p.m. to close, carnival opens (bracelet day)

1 p.m. to 10 p.m., bingo
