She worked a variety of jobs through the years, but Nancy's primary purpose was as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She would say that her job in life was helping others by doing the things about which people would say, "You couldn't pay me a million dollars to do that!" If it meant helping someone out, Nancy would be the first to do it.

Nancy was a faithful member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, watching sports on television, caring for animals, doing puzzles and crosswords, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gerald Johnson of Merriman; daughter Pastor Corinne Johnson of Wallace; grandsons Quinn and Nathan Leonard of Racine, Wis.; mother Jeanette Granquist of Iron Mountain; sister Sandra (James) Meier of Iron Mountain; sister-in-law Debra Granquist of Greenwood, S.C.; brothers-in-law Wayne (Mable) Johnson of Felch and Robert (Susan) Johnson of The Villages, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Anthony Granquist, Marc Granquist, Christopher Campbell, Gregory (Vicki) Johnson, Shawn Johnson, David Johnson, Kristin (Pedro Martinez) Johnson, and Laura (Eric) Goldman; aunts and uncles, Marge Stephens, Bernard (Judi) Querio, Betty VanNess, Carl Granquist, Dorothy Granquist, Dorothy Johnson, Anna Wickman, Edith Nylund, Dorothy Gungel, and Roger (Diane) Johnson; and numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelly Leonard; father, Ernest Granquist; brother, Richard Granquist; and nephew, Justin Meier.@

Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon at the church. The Rev. James Lindgren will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital ICU and the Northern Michigan Hospitalists for their excellent care of Nancy and the family.
