KINGSFORD - Virginia C. "Ginny" Coughlin, 76, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., formerly of Kingsford, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at her home.
She was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Montclair, N.J., daughter of the late Judson and Virginia (Givens) Philips. Ginny graduated from Montclair High School in 1954, and went on to attend Penn State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Ginny married Eugene F. Coughlin on Nov. 13, 1959, in Montclair. They lived in Kingsford from 1972 until 2001 when Eugene passed away. Virginia has been a resident of New Smyrna Beach since that time.
She was a member of Pine Grove Country Club and the Chippewa Club. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and spent many hours volunteering at different organizations.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Michelle) Coughlin of Kingsford and Christopher (Traci) Coughlin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Dr. J. Christopher (Linda) Philips of Rhode Island; three grandsons, Jacob, Aaron and Evan Coughlin and a granddaughter, Reagan Coughlin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Coughlin.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Lloyd Nelson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet.
