Duane Perron

IRON MOUNTAIN - Duane J. Perron, 77, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Leo and Aimee "Mae" Perron.

Duane graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1954 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Following his graduation, Duane enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for two years as a medic in Germany.

He married Lillian Blazier on Aug. 6, 1960, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Duane worked for the city of Iron Mountain street department for 31 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the National Rifle Association and the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50. Duane was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at camp.

Duane is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lillian; two sons, Philip (Andrea) Perron of Iron Mountain and Brian (Jeanne) Perron of Mundelein, Ill.; a daughter, Valerie Haberkorn of Florence, Wis.; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Cassandra, Emery, Kayla and Amber; two brothers, Rene Perron of Brown Deer, Wis. and Ernest (Zita) Perron of Iron Mountain; special friends, Jon and Ruth Reynolds of Iron Mountain; many nieces and nephews and his dog and best buddy, Abbey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mae Perron; brothers, Emery and Donald; sisters, Yvonne, Alma, and Isabelle; sons, Glen and Emery Perron; a grandson, Benjamin Perron; a granddaughter, Gail Asselin; and a son-in-law, Jack Haberkorn.

At Duane's request, there will be no services.
