GILLETT, Wis. - Niagara recovered from a two-set deficit and defeated Gillett 3-2 (21-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-11) in M&O Conference volleyball Tuesday.

"My hat's off to the kids," Badgers head coach Carol St. Arnauld said. "Coming back from two down shows a lot of character and maturity on their part."

Maryellen Wagener produced 18 kills and Kaitlyn Lundin had 16. Abbey Bagnieschi tallied 16 assists.

"We didn't play really well at times, especially early in the match," St. Arnauld said. "The communication on the floor has to get better. But we played well enough to win."

Gillett's Kelsey Hischke and Kaycee Reed combined for 45 digs.

Coach Carol St. Arnauld's Badgers (3-1 M&O) travel to Coleman on Thursday where they will also face St. Thomas Aquinas.

Summary follows:

Danielle Bennett - 1 kill, 8 assists, 100 percent serving; Maryellen Wagener - 18 kills, 2 digs, 1 assist; Becky Beauchamp - 1 kill; Madisin DePas - 100 percent serving; Shelby Borchardt - 3 kills, 5 digs; Kaitlyn Lundin - 16 kills; Abbey Bagnieschi - 16 assists, 100 percent serving; Shanna Nordell - 4 kills, 100 percent serving; Melinda MacDonald - 1 kill, 1 dig; Paige Lindlbauer - 1 dig.
