IRON RIVER - Iron Mountain, behind Paul Brooks' 194 yards rushing and three touchdowns, rocked West Iron County 39-0 in non-conference football Friday at Nelson Field.
"I thought we got to great start," Mountaineer coach Robin Marttila said. "Paul Brooks had a heck of a game. It was a great team win for us."
Brooks picked up his three scores and 168 yards in the first half as the Mountaineers pulled ahead 33-0.
Coach Mike Berutti's Wykons, winless against the Mountaineers since 1991, suffered four turnovers - three in the first half.
Brooks plowed 54 and one yards to put the Mountaineers up 13-0.
Taylor Huotari hiked the margin to 19-0, intercepting a pass to set up his 36-yard scoring run.
In the second quarter, Zach Jacobs - nephew of the WIC coach - traveled 13 yards on a quarterback keeper for a 25-0 cushion.
Brooks recovered a Wykon fumble and followed with a 32-yard touchdown to close the halftime blitz.
In the third quarter, Jacobs and James Christiansen hooked up on a five-yard scoring pass.
Christiansen recovered a fumble, WIC's fourth turnover, in the third quarter.
Late in the fourth quarter, Tyler Stafford's 39-yard scoring run was nullified by a holding penalty.
On Friday, Iron Mountain (2-1) hosts Negaunee and West Iron County (1-2) entertains Ironwood.
