Larson gains 136 yards, scores twice

RHINELANDER, Wis. - Kingsford, with Reed Larson running for 136 yards on 18 carries and scoring two touchdowns, spilled Rhinelander 34-12 in non-conference football Friday.

Coach Chris Hofer's unbeaten Flivvers trailed 6-0 in the second quarter and held a 13-12 edge in the third quarter.

In the second quarter, Kingsford claimed the lead on touchdown runs from Adam Michaud (three yards) and Larson (28). Gabe Swanson followed Larson's score with the PAT kick and 13-6 halftime lead.

Rhinelander's second short scoring plunge of the game closed the difference to 13-12 in the third quarter.

The Flivvers opened things up when Aidan Wienke recovered a blocked field goal attempt and rambled 58 yards to the Hodag 22.

Two plays later, Sean Ryan ripped off 15 yards for the touchdown. Swanson added the PAT kick.

In the fourth quarter, Larson scooted 27 yards for a touchdown.

With two minutes remaining, Tony Lorenzoni went seven yards for a score. Swanson added PAT kicks on both scores.

Kingsford (3-0) hosts La Crosse Central on Friday. Rhinelander dropped to 0-3.
