LAKE LINDEN - Lake Linden fought off three match points in the fifth volleyball set and beat Houghton for the first time in six years, 3-2 (25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 16-14).
Back-to-back kills from Mandy Perreault, called a "steady rock" by Coach Karen Keranen, lifted the Lakes in the fifth set. She had 18 kills in the match.
"Just right before that last ball went down, I was thinking, 'Please, just please go down," Perreault said. "I'll never do a bad thing in my life if that goes down right there."
