PESHTIGO, Wis. - Iron Mountain, with goals from Nick Brule and Derek Klarich, blanked Peshtigo 2-0 in high school soccer Tuesday.
"We managed a win," Mountaineer coach Rob Bogaudo said. "We did have a few other opportunities but just could not seem to connect."
Iron Mountain's first goal came on a Nick Brule penalty kick after a hand ball in the box.
The second goal was a through ball from Sawyer Kujala to Klarich.
Iron Mountain (6-2-3) hosts Big Bay de Noc on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
"After six games in seven days, the kids are pretty beat up," Bogaudo said. "We need a break."
Those past seven days included a penalty kick shootout loss to Kingsford. Bogaudo emphasized the Flivvers deserved credit for the win and the officials demonstrated their expertise in handling a penalty kick situation that came under scrutiny.
"I want to congratulate Kingsford on their win against us," Bogaudo said. "It was a well played game for both teams and although the game came to a ref's decision I know now that it was the right call according to the National Federation of High School Associations rules.
"I just want to make it clear for everybody that if I personally was officiating I would have made the same call."
Bogaudo praised the three officials "for knowing the rules and applying them properly in this situation."
