KINGSFORD - Jeffrey C. Scott, 60, of Kingsford, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeff was born on Feb. 19, 1952, in Iron Mountain and was the son of the late Clayton and Delores (Romeis) Scott. He has been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1971 graduate of Kingsford High School.

He married Rose Marie Lake on Dec. 22, 1973, at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Jeff started with the Niagara Paper Mill in September 1975 and worked there as a papermaker for 33 years, retiring in September 2008.

He was the union steward for the Papermakers Union from 1994-96 and served as the recording secretary for the union from 1996-2001.

In addition to the Papermakers Union, he was a member of First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Jeff was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed camping.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; his son, Jeffrey Jr. of Kingsford; a brother, Don Scott of Kingsford; nephews, Ryan (Rachel) Scott of Ishpeming and Jaime (Jen) Scott of Negaunee. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Frank Lake and mother-in-law, Kay Stodola.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his son Jason on March 7, 2000.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
