GARDEN CORNERS - The Kingsford Flivvers hit a trio of first-half goals Thursday as they knocked off the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears a 3-0 in boys soccer.
Geno Bianco scored twice and Brett Milinski added the remaining goal. Milinski and Zach Stankevich notched assists.
"After coming off three straight losses we needed to get back on track with a solid performance," Flivvers coach Alex Milinski said. "Big Bay Is always a hard place to play, they defend hard for the entire game."
After dominating possession and peppering the Big Bay de Noc goalie for the first 20 minutes of the contest, the Flivvers finally broke through in the 25th minute when Taylor Wickman drew a penalty shot, which Milinski converted to the low to the right corner.
Coach Milinski credited the second and third goals to great build up play, short intricate passing and some great composure from Geno Bianco when he received the ball.
Bianco buried both his chances in the lower left corner in the game's 30th and 32nd minutes.
Kingsford used a different line-up in the second half. with Forrest Nelson replacing Tyler Schaut in net.
Hunter Laing had a chance to convert a penalty kick mid-way through the second half, but the Big Bay goalie made another good save.
"I was really happy I got a chance to play my entire squad and was very impressed with how well they performed as a team," Milinski said. "Even in the second half we created some great chances, but were just very unfortunate to not finish them."
