FELCH - North Dickinson recovered from a sluggish opening to take down Carney-Nadeau 3-2 (25-16, 22-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-5) in Skyline girls volleyball Thursday.

"We were very sluggish and inconsistent tonight," Nordics coach Sandy Haustein said. "Our serving gave us some trouble again too."

But by sets four and five, the Nordics came around.

"They started to play their game of volleyball," Haustein said, crediting the serving of Lexi Steele and Chelsey Stroud down the stretch. The duo accounted for nearly all of the Nordics points in the final set.

Miranda Jacobson totaled 14 kills to lead the Nordic attack. Marissa Jauquet added seven more, and Gina Rotter came up with 25 assists.

"Rotter did a good job setting," Haustein noted. "Overall we'll go back and work a little harder and try to build off this."

The Nordics, winning the jayvee match in two sets, head to Forest Park's tournament Saturday.

...In Powers, Forest Park, in a match where "everyone contributed," clipped North Central 3-0 (25-3, 25-13, 25-10) in Skyline Conference volleyball. Lexi Gussert's nine kills paced the Lady Trojans.

In Niagara, Wis., The Lady Badgers dominated the final two sets to beat Lena 3-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-17, 25-15) in M&O Conference action behind a 31-kill performance by Maryellen Wagener.

At Wabeno, Wis., Wabeno jolted Florence 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) to open the Northern Lakes Conference volleyball schedule.
