KINGSFORD - Mary M. Provencher, 86, of Kingsford, passed away at 11:11 a.m. on Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 2012, at the beautiful Victorian Pines on Iron Mountain's north side. Mary passed peacefully from this world surrounded by her family into the waiting arms of her heavenly family.
She was born on May 14, 1926, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late John Sr. and Lucy (Kattnig) Mente.
Mary Mente and Donald Provencher were married on Feb. 18, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Donald preceded her in death on May 11, 1998.
Mary's life was a life of simple service to her family, church and community and a shining example of steadfast, unconditional love and strength. There was no problem she felt was insurmountable because she always knew the power of prayer.
She would say "don't worry we'll just pray" and after a job was obtained or some problem solved, she'd say "see the prayers are being answered" with her ever faithful smile.
Mary was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, St. Theresa's Circle, Daughters of Isabella and the Breen Senior Citizens Center.
