CRYSTAL FALLS - George C. Farrell Jr., 75, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Athelstane, Wis. on April 11, 1937, the son of the late George Sr. and Frances (Nondorf) Farrell and has been a resident of this area for most of his life.
George worked in the woods for many years with Farrell Brothers logging and in 2005 formed Farrell Logging with his sons.

He married Darleen Jones on Jan. 23, 1960, in Sagola. George's life was his work but he also enjoyed doing things with his family, attending motocross races and the mud runs. He especially enjoyed picnicing and trips to Way Dam on his pontoon boat.
George is survived by his wife Darleen; sons, Todd (Joan) Farrell of Clovis, N.M. and Perry Farrell of Crystal Falls; brothers, Ray (Nancy) Farrell of Crystal Falls and Henry Farrell of Coleman, Wis.; sisters, Mabel Zeitler of Pound, Wis. and Mary (Gerry) Risner of Coleman, Wis.; and two grandchildren, India and Sierra Schindler of Iron River. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other close family members.
Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate.
