Dale I. Siegler

HARDWOOD - Dale I. Siegler, 77, of Hardwood, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at his home in Hardwood.

Dale was born on Feb. 8, 1935, in Kingsford, the son of the late Louis and Laura (Morse) Siegler. He has been a lifelong resident of Hardwood and was a 1953 graduate of Felch High School. He married Rose Marie Blomquist on June 13, 1953, in Metropolitan.

Dale worked for the Hanna Mining Co. for more than 20 years, retiring when the mine closed. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan and had served on the church council. Dale was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time in the woods and on the water, hunting, trapping and fishing. He also enjoyed building bird houses, wine making and spent many hours in his beautiful garden and shared the results with friends and family.

Dale especially enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their activities and sporting events.

Dale is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; his children, David (Jennifer) Siegler of Breitung Township, Lynn (Brian) Becker of Huntington Beach, Calif., Dorn (Carrie) Siegler of Felch and Dan (Lori) Siegler of Prior Lake, MN; brothers, Howard (Ceil) Siegler of Norway and Delbert (Shirley) Siegler of Felch; sister, Nancy (Stewart) Sundholm of Felch; sister-in-law, Bernice Siegler of Norway; grandchildren, Casey Siegler, Christopher Siegler, Nicole Palmer, Elizabeth (Chris) Rundgren, Demi Becker, Jordan Siegler and Grant (Ashley) Siegler; and great granddaughter, Hailee Siegler.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Belva Jean Siegler and brother, Don Siegler.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.

Memorial services will follow Saturday at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Joel Smeby will officiate.

Burial will be in the Foster City Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to neighbor and friend Kevin, whose daily efforts made it possible for Dale to remain at home throughout his illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Zion Lutheran Church or the local Hospice organization.
