DENVER - Jan Rahm, 74, of Denver, passed away Sept. 12, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born May 14, 1938, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late David and Stella Rahm.
She is survived by her son, Peter Rahm-Coffey, also of Denver; three sisters, Joan Modi of Glenn Mills, Pa., Helen Malin of New Orleans, Lois Fitch of Portsmouth, Ohio; a brother, David Rahm of Brookhaven, N.Y., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jan graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1956. She received her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Michigan in 1961 and later received her master's degree in education from the University of Colorado.
Jan worked in the fields of journalism and education, spending the last years as a technical writer and editor for Lockheed Martin.
Jan enjoyed hiking in the Rocky Mountains, was an avid reader, and an active member of the James Joyce Reading Society. She loved beauty, collected artwork, primarily pottery and Japanese Kokeshi dolls.
She brought her great love of literature to her work as a teacher in New York and Colorado. She enjoyed traveling, especially the trip with a Tai Chi group that had the privilege of doing Tai Chi at The Great Wall of China.
A memorial service will be held in Denver and will be announced at a later date.
