AURORA, Wis. - Shirley Ann "Gram" Herzog, 80, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly while on vacation with her dear friend, Vonnie, on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minn.
She was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Aurora, daughter of the late William and Alice (McDonald) Anderson. Shirley graduated from Kingsford High School in 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Aurora.
She married Gordon "Sonny" Herzog on July 7, 1951, at the Aurora Free Church. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2006.
Shirley worked for many years on their family farm in Aurora. She was an excellent cook and her kitchen was always open for visiting family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by three daughters, Randi (Robert) Kusmitch of Aurora, Rebecca (Alan) Cornelissen of De Pere, Wis., and Ronda (Douglas) Jacobs of Aurora; six grandchildren, Butch (Kristal) Kusmitch of Kingsford and Tanya (Jason) Neuens, of Aurora, Andrew (Amanda) Cornelissen and Adam (Jacky) Cornelissen, both of De Pere, Chad (Melissa) Jacobs of Aurora and Amanda (Mark) Sanicki of Niagara; 11 great-grandchildren, Logan, Makayla, and Isabel Jacobs, Tyler Bauer, Hali and Gage Kusmitch, Gavin Neuens, Mallory and Bristol Sanicki, Luke Cornelissen and Carter Cornelissen; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Marge Dyer.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Lloyd Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.
Shirley's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
A memorial will be established in her memory.
