MARQUETTE - A suspect has been identified in the false bomb threats that occurred in Marquette County on Friday.

According to a press released issued by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, during the investigation at Swayer International Airport, another bomb threat was called in to the Sawyer Medical Center.

The suspect's identity was known shortly after the threat was received.

The suspect was then taken into custody and transported to Marquette General Health System for psychiatric treatment.

The suspect is a juvenile, and the identity of the suspect will not be released, police said.

The suspicious luggage located at Sawyer International Airport was not related to this incident, but due to the explosive detection canine alerting on the luggage, the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was called in to ensure public safety.

Police said the luggage contained no suspicious or explosive material.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Marquette Township Fire Rescue, Forsyth Township Fire Department, Forsyth Township Police Department, Marquette County Rescue Unit 131, Escanaba Public Safety Explosive Detection K-9, and Michigan State Police Bomb Squad.
