IRON MOUNTAIN - Arthur Dunkel, 81, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sept. 13, 2012, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center after a courageous battle with liver cancer.
Arthur was born in Iron Mountain in 1931, son of the late Otto Dunkel and Bertha Powell. He grew up in Iron Mountain and bravely served his country in the Korean War.
Arthur was a carpenter and laborer by trade.
He married Ruth Elaine Ewers Olson Dunkel, who preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1997.
Arthur leaves behind his son, Brian Arthur Richard Dennis Dunkel of Iron Mountain; daughter, Deborah Dunkel Dorion of Leominster Mass.; granddaughters, Faithy Largos and Hanna Wild Elizabeth Dunkel of Fitchburg, Mass.; nephews, Jim Dunkel of Iron River and John Dunkel of Lansing; stepsons, David Olson of Kingsford, and John Beccie of Milwaukee; great-grandson, Scott Beccie of Milwaukee; step-grandson Ed Olson; dear friend, Ray Pearson; and many other loving friends and family members.
