Lorraine Massignan

KINGSFORD - Lorraine "Kathryn" Massignan, 85, of Kingsford, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, at her son's home in Eagle River, Wis.

Kathryn was born on April 29, 1927, in Chicago. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Cecelia (Zblewski) Jezewski.

She was a 1945 graduate of Hermansville High School and on Sept. 14, 1946, married Ernest R. Massignan in Kingsford. Ernest preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1996. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by three sons, David (Diane) Massignan of Bay City, Mich., Douglas (Leslie) Massignan of Norway, and Dale (Julie) Massignan of Eagle River, Wis.; her sister, LaVergne (Steve) Machalk of Hermansville; grandchildren, Stacey (Noel Carrascal) Massignan, Dominic Massignan, Jason (Erin) Massignan, Andrew (Tuuli) Massignan, Daniel (Nichole) Massignan, Katy-Jo (Clint) Grandahl, and Stefanie Massignan; and six great-grandchildren, Parker, Connor, Reagan, Hunter, Hailey and Francesca.

Kathryn worked for Kingsford Chemical Co., Sears, and Northern Supply Co. She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.

Kathryn loved to dance, enjoyed music in general and looked forward to her weekly trip to the casino. She was an avid Green Bay Packers and University of Michigan sports fan.

Kathryn spent many happy days over the years with family and friends at "The Camp". She especially enjoyed her annual trips to many of the nation's larger cities and national parks with her son, Dale and family.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. There will be a short reflection on Kathryn's life at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Dr. Kate Hospice or American Martyrs Church.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home with the arrangements.
