KINGSFORD - Lois C. Gidlund, 90, of Kingsford, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1922, in Perronville, the daughter of the late Homer and Amanda (Morin) Beauchamp. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1940.
On July 16, 1942, Lois married Robert Gidlund at American Martyrs Catholic Church. The couple owned and operated Gidlund's Serve-All in the Kingsford Heights and had enjoyed many trips to Florida. Lois also worked at Rocheleau Bakery and Masters Cleaners.
She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church and St. Theresa Circle. Lois enjoyed bowling, volleyball, dancing, Girls Card Club 65, trips to the casino, bike riding, and reading. As a resident of ManorCare, she always enjoyed the visits from her family and going out to eat.
She is survived by four children, Peter (Marilyn) Gidlund of Appleton, Wis., Gay Ann (Richard) Lawrence of Kingsford, Pam (Ken) Parent of Iron Mountain, and Cheryl (Bruce) Kazianka of Kingsford; one brother, Robert (the late Lynn) Beauchamp of Marquette; two sisters, Pat (the late George) Heiskala of Kingsford, and Sharon (Don) Mountcastle of Berea, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jim (Paula) Gidlund, Jodi Gidlund, Ken Parent Jr., Jenny Parent, Kelly (Joe) Niskanen, Christopher Kazianka, and Cameron Kazianka; three stepgrandchildren, Randy, Debbie, and Toni Matia; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1985; a grandson, Brad (Marie) Parent; and a sister, Inez (Joseph) Haepers.
Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
