IRON MOUNTAIN - Thelma J. Marsden, 96, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara.
She was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Detroit, daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Lindsey) Barr. Thelma was a 1933 graduate of Eastern High School in Detroit.
She married Frank H. Marsden on Jan. 5, 1940, in Detroit and he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2000. Thelma was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling, socializing and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by two sons, Gary Alan Marsden (Carol Kier) of Vulcan and Glen Ellis Marsden (Kristine Anderson) of Iron Mountain; three grandchildren, Holly (Steve) Stuff of Oconomowoc, Wis., Mark (Jaunita) Marsden of Chicago and Dawn Marsden of Iron Mountain; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Jim) Golden of Iron Mountain and Stacy Thatcher of Grand Forks, ND.; 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Hopkins; two brothers, James and Norman; and her daughter-in-law, Judy (Wagner) Marsden.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Private family graveside services will follow the visitation with Pastor Kevin Sullivan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
