NEGAUNEE - Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a methamphetamine production site located in a wooded area of Marquette Township off Forestville Road, officials said today.
Troopers from the Negaunee Post responded at approximately 8:10 a.m. today at the request of Marquette Township Fire Department firefighters, who located methamphetamine production components at the scene of a reported brush fire.
The fire was likely started from an attempt to "cook" methamphetamine in the wooded location, troopers said.

A Michigan State Police methamphetamine clean-up team responded to the scene and secured the components and other hazardous materials.
The size of the fire was estimated at approximately 1,000 square feet.
Troopers have no suspects at this time. The investigation is continuing.
