NIAGARA, Wis. - A third-set serving blitz triggered Niagara past Crivitz 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-10, 25-11) in M&O Conference volleyball Thursday.

The Badgers, with Abbey Bagnieschi at the serving line, reeled off 11 straight points to erase a 3-0 deficit in the third set.

"Abbey put us back in the game and the momentum of the whole match changed," Niagara Coach Carol St. Arnauld said. "From that point on we were in control."

Niagara’s Abby Bagnieschi (21) digs up a serve next to teammate Shelby Borchardt (15) during Thursday’s M&O Conference match with Crivitz.

The Badgers rolled to a 20-11 cushion in the first set after senior Maryellen Wagener recorded one of her 22 kills.

Wagener also fired back-to-back aces for a 23-13 cushion. But the Wolverines put up a fight in closing to 24-20.

"We kind of let them back in the game," St. Arnauld.

Niagara remained generous in the second set, battling to within 21-20 before falling by three.

"I don't know," St. Arnauld said. "One minute we play well, the next minute we get into our own little world.

"We missed at least three serves. Do the math. Turn that around and we win 25-22."

Niagara captured the next two sets in taking the team's final regular season home match. The Badgers (8-5 M&O) face St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in Marinette on Tuesday.

Niagara sophomore Shelby Borchardt notched 22 digs and Bagnieschi added 15 assists. Kaitlyn Lundin suffered an ankle injury in the second set with Crivitz leading 21-16.

"I hope it's not a real bad sprain," said St. Arnauld, noting the senior will needed for the upcoming state tournament.

Tournament seeding will be determined early next week.

The Badgers have split their last six matches.

"We were in a slump and we're kind of crawling out of it," St. Arnauld said. "But I think we need to play with a little more heart."

Jen Kempka's 28 assists and Vicki Neumann's 10 kills led Crivitz.

Coach Christie Borchardt's Badger jayvees defeated the Wolverines 3-0.

Niagara summary follows:
