Joel Bayee

FLORENCE - Joel Francis Bayee, 80, of Florence, formerly of Green Bay, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. He was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Green Bay, to the late Ernest and Hester (Dunham) Bayee. Joel graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1950. He married the former Mary Prail on Oct. 17, 1953.

Joel joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard in 1949 and retired as a E7 Platoon Sergeant in 1979. Joel was employed at C. Reiss Coal Company from 1950 to 1984 as a Supervisor. Joel along with his wife Mary owned East Mason Laundromat from 1957 to 1984. Together they also owned The Hammer Inn on State Street from 1986 to 2005. Joel was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kingsford and Green Bay, Moose Lodge #801, Green Bay, American Legion #11 Green Bay, and the V.F.W. in Howard.

Joel is survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, parents, grandparents, brothers, Kenneth and Thomas, as well as Aunts and Uncles.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. Green Bay, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of 9th and 12th street, Green Bay, with the Rev. Ralph Merkatoris officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. Online condolences may be expressed at
