I'm tired of arguing back and forth about what individual rights our "elected officials" allow us to have.
Whether it be marijuana, guns, gay marriage, pitbulls and other pets, soft drinks and cheeseburgers, mandating "safety" rules, burning "dirty" diesel, coal, oil, or driving V-8's with loud exhaust and God forbid tinted windows. The list goes on and on.
Whether or not you agree with these things, is not the point. We should all agree on the fact that the United States has a tradition of individual liberty and freedom from the start. In fact, that's the distinction between us and the rest of the world.
Liberty can be very offensive to people. That's OK. What works for one individual may not work for another, and it's none of your concern to tell them how they ought to live.
This is something that needs to be fought on a local, state and federal level.
