MARINETTE, Wis. - An Oconto County, Wis. man was found deceased early Friday morning following a car accident in Marinette County.
The accident occurred off of Parkway Road near County Road X in the town of Stephenson, Wis.
Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said that a passing motorist discovered the accident at 1:10 a.m. The motorist reported that an unresponsive male was in the crashed vehicle.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency response personnel determined that the male was deceased as a result of head and internal injuries.
Sauve said that the male was identified as 59-year-old Michael R. Bessey of rural Oconto County.
Investigation into the accident revealed that Bessey was traveling south on Parkway Road when he impacted a road sign and a tree, Sauve added.
Sauve said that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident at this point in the investigation.
This accident was Marinette County's 12th traffic fatality of 2012.
