KINGSFORD - Gerald "Jerry" Galeazzi, 68, of Kingsford, lost his short battle with cancer on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born on April 7, 1944, in Iron Mountain, the son of John and Vivian (Vanpae) Galeazzi.
Jerry worked at Grede Foundry for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards, especially Smear at Bob & Jerry's. Jerry was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions, and the Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always looked forward to his fishing and hunting trips with his longtime friends.
He is survived by four children, Sandi (Brian) Carlson, Suzie (John) Collins, Jackie Galeazzi, and Bob Galeazzi, all of Niagara, Wis.; three sisters, Jackie Ebbens, JoAnn Alexander, and Kay Gardiepy; two brothers, John Galeazzi and Albert Galeazzi; six grandchildren, Nikki Janczy, Brad Carlson, Kiana Collins, Jeran Collins, Matthew Sovey, and Jacob Sovey; one step-granddaughter, Amber Carlson; four step great-grandchildren, Cole, Logan, and Natalie Carlson, and Mya Hippert; special friend, Judy Lucas; his dog Zoe; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jean Seberger, Vickie Chiamulera, and Margaret "Midge" Akstulewicz; and three brothers, Jim, David, and Joe Galeazzi.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
