MARQUETTE - A 66-year-old Marquette County man has been arraigned after an alleged road rage incident last week, involving a machete, that allegedly took place at the Peninsula Medical Center parking lot in Marquette.
Jeffrey Rowal Anderson of Northland in southern Marquette County is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, a four-year felony; carrying a concealed weapon, a five-year felony and malicious destruction of property over $1,000, but less than $20,000, a five-year felony.
He is lodged in the Marquette County Jail on bond set at $110,000. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Marquette County District Court at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 26.
The Marquette City Police Department said the incident was reported at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, when officers responded to a report of an assault at the medical center at 1414 W. Fair Ave.
Police said investigation revealed that while driving north along McClellan Avenue, the driver of one vehicle allegedly cut off another. The driver who was cut off followed the other to the medical center parking lot.
Police said when the vehicles got to the parking lot, Anderson exited his vehicle with a machete and approached the other driver, whose name was not released and had been following Anderson. The driver stayed in his vehicle and dialed 911 as Anderson was allegedly screaming at him and waving the machete around, police said.
Police said Anderson then took the machete and allegedly struck the victim's car with it. Anderson then went back to his vehicle, parked it and walked into the medical center without the machete.
Police made contact with Anderson inside the medical center and following the investigation, placed him under arrest.
