Erick Jacobson

QUINNESEC - Erick W. Jacobson, 68, of Quinnesec, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 16, 1944, in Marquette, son of Mary (Valela) and the late Robert W. Jacobson.

He attended the Ironwood, Kingsford and Ishpeming schools, and graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1962. He enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1967.

He worked as a butcher and car salesman, until going to work at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain for more than 25 years before retiring.

He was a resident of Quinnesec for more than 34 years with his late wife Sheryl and their three children. Erick married Julie Skrivanie on Feb. 23, 1999, and have been together for the past 13 wonderful years.

He enjoyed baseball, hunting, trout fishing, cooking, wine making and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers fan. But more than that, he lived his life for his family, spending time with his children and grandchildren was what he loved.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Peter; a sister, Nancy; and his late wife, Sheryl Jacobson.

Erick is survived by his loving wife, Julie Jacobson of Quinnesec; his mother, Mary Jacobson of Ishpeming; his children Cory (Allison) Jacobson of Streamwood, Ill., Chad (Julie) Jacobson of Park Falls, Wis., and Cara (Mike) Lantagne of Quinnesec; grandchildren, Regan, Hailey, Jack, Bianca, Kayley, and Lukas; stepchildren, Ryan Thunander and Tyler Beauchamp; step-grandchildren, Kloe and Ean; siblings, Marianne (Antonio) Cafiero, Robert (Barb) Jacobson, Frank Jacobson, and Cathy (Mike) Jacobson

Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral service will follow Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. The American Legion Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post 50 will conduct full military honors at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
