IRON MOUNTAIN - A Vulcan man is dead after the vehicle he was working on fell off a jack.

Dickinson County Undersheriff Scott Rutter said that on Wednesday at approximately noon, a deputy was dispatched to Central Boulevard in Vulcan for a vehicle that had apparently fallen off the jack and a person was trapped underneath the vehicle.

Fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched to the scene to assist the deputy. Rutter added fire and ambulance personnel arrived prior to the deputy and removed the individual from under the vehicle and transported him to the hospital.

Rutter said the 52-year-old man from Vulcan was later pronounced dead at the hospital. His name is not being released by authorities at this time.

Preliminary investigation appears the scissor jack being used collapsed and came out from underneath the vehicle, Rutter said.
