I would like to respond to a letter to the editor dated Oct. 15.
First I'd like to say that there isn't such a thing as an "Obama Phone." Period. Lifeline began under Reagan in 1984, then was expanded under Clinton in 1996, and then launched by Tracfone Wireless in 2008 by Bush. Because you've seen this lady on TV say something about an "Obama Phone" you think it's true, wrong.
I've lived in this area for more years than you've been alive and have yet to see an ATV or snowmobile in operation in town. How do you tell if someone on an ATV or snowmobile is disabled? Do they have a handicap sticker or something?
I wasn't aware that 47 percent claim to be disabled. You should know that your doctor has to fill out forms in order to get disability.
How is a person supposed to believe anything with errors like this? And do any of you actually think that what you write about politics is going to change a person's mind?
You say your father and brother are disabled, I'm sorry. But I hope you have seen to it that neither of them get Social Security (created by F.D.R., a Democrat), or Medicare (created by L.B.J., another Democrat).
