CRYSTAL FALLS - The Iron County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a Marquette man who had been involved in an ORV crash in rural Crystal Falls Township on Saturday Nov. 3.
At 7:57 p.m. the Iron County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a man found under a four-wheeler on the North Fence River Road near the West Branch of the Fence River. Sheriff's deputies responded and found David Pansier, a 69-year-old Marquette man, unresponsive at the scene. Pansier was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by the Iron County Medical Examiner.
Investigation showed where Pansier had been traveling east on the North Fence River Road when he lost control of the four wheeler he was operating. Pansier was thrown from the ORV that then rolled over onto Pansier. Friends of Pansier who were traveling to meet him for dinner, located the accident and called 911.
Pansier had been drinking and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation pending the results of an autopsy.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Northstar EMS and the Jacobs Plowe Funeral Home of Crystal Falls.
