MARQUETTE - Two hunters reported lost in a wooded area west of Camp 4 Road in Skandia Township were found safe by authorities.

Marquette County Sheriff's deputies, along with Marquette County Sheriff's and Rescue, were dispatched at 8 p.m. Monday to two lost hunters.

Robert Darling, 47, and Sonya Gilbertson, 22, both of Marquette, were small game hunting in a wooded area when they became confused. After realizing they were lost and it became dark, they called 911 for help.

Rescue personnel were dispatched to the area and located the subjects approximately one-half mile from their vehicle in a swampy and heavily wooded area by search and rescue personnel. This was with the assistance of search and rescue K9 teams.

Darling and Gilbertson had started a fire and were located in good condition.
