CRYSTAL FALLS - Following the results of Tuesday's general election, there will be three new faces on the Iron County Board of Commissioners come January.

Patti Peretto, a former board chair, won the district one race over incumbent write-in candidate Wayne Wales by a vote of 845 to 361.

In the August primary election, Peretto had defeated Wales by a vote of 311 to 294. Both ran as Democrats.

Peretto said Wednesday morning that she is looking forward to working with the other four commissioners.

"We have some challenges ahead," she noted. "But, I believe now we'll have a board that will work together - we all have good ideas and we're independent thinkers."

Independent candidate Ray Coates won the district three race over incumbent Democrat Rosalie King by a vote of 555 to 357.

Coates was unavailable for comment this morning.

The other new commissioner will be Jim Brennan, who won the August primary election for retiring commissioner Fran Wills' district two seat.

Brennan and incumbents Carl Lind, district four, and Beverly Camp, district five, were unopposed in the November general election. All are Democrats.
