Victoria Zini

IRON MOUNTAIN - Victoria M. Zini, 87, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Halerz) Bara. Vicki graduated from Alpha High School in 1945.

Following graduation she moved to Chicago where she met Eugene Kiel and they were married on May 10, 1947, at St. Camillus Church. Eugene preceded Vicki in death in 1972 and she moved to Iron Mountain the following year.

Vicki married Dan Zini on April 29, 1977, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2011.

Vicki was a devout Catholic who shared her deep love of Christ with many people throughout her lifetime. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. She was a dedicated volunteer at local churches, hospice, the Veterans Administration Medical Center and St. Vincent de Paul. In 2002, Vicki was named First Lady of Dickinson County. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.

Vicki is survived by five children, MaryAnn (James) Ingle of Marquette, Eugene Kiel of Ann Arbor, Mich., Robin Zini of Gwinn, Barbara (David) Cronk of Staunton, Va. and Dana Zini of Winchester, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Opolka of Iron Mountain, Agnes Bjork of Alpha and Pauline (Ken) Sypal of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Amanda Ingle, Jessica and Joshua Kiel, Christina Zini (Thierry de Cock Buning), Angela (Michael) Murphy, Jennifer Moore and Lauren Bille; two great-grandchildren, Marissa Moore and Oliver Dante de Cock Buning; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Vicki was also preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Egnatz Bara; four sisters, Anne Manko, Dorothy Dunbar, Patricia Skibo and Nellie Novey; three infant brothers and one infant sister.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 9:30am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.

Pallbearers will be Bill Wiegele, Bill McCarty, Jim Swanson, Ken L. Sypal, Ken M. Sypal, Don Tramontin and Mike Swanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Vicki's memory.
