Masked person in school

MARINETTE, Wis. - Marinette Police Department officials are looking for an unauthorized person who was spotted in an elementary school on Monday.

Officers were dispatched at 3:38 p.m. Monday to Merryman Elementary School at 611 Elizabeth Ave., for a report of an unauthorized person inside the school, said Sgt. Bruce Furst.

A member of the cleaning crew came across the person, who immediately fled out a window, Sgt. Furst said.

A description of the individual is 5-feet, 2-inches to 5-feet, 4-inches tall, skinny build, possibly male, wearing camouflage clothing and a black and white mask,

The Marinette County Sheriff's Department responded with a K-9 unit, and tracked the suspect southbound for several blocks before losing the trail.

The K-9 also did a complete interior search, Sgt. Furst said.

Officers performed a complete exterior search to ensure all windows and doors were locked.
