Former Alpha clerk in court on embezzlement charges

CRYSTAL FALLS - Former Alpha clerk Nicholas John Rickman was in Iron County Trial Court on Tuesday on charges alleging that he embezzled money from the village.

Rickman, 34, of Alpha pleaded not guilty to felony counts of forgery, uttering and publishing, embezzlement by a public official, and public officer-embezzlement/diversion of taxes or public moneys.

If convicted on all counts, Rickman faces a maximum penalty of 99 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint in the case, Rickman allegedly embezzled money from the village between March 1 and Aug. 13.
