IRON MOUNTAIN - An elderly female driver was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries that occurred as the result of a two-vehicle accident on Friday.

Iron Mountain Police Department was dispatched to an accident at the intersection of U.S. 2 and the east entrance to the Walmart parking lot at 1:37 p.m.

Lt. Ed Mattson said a westbound vehicle turned into the path of an eastbound vehicle while attempting to turn into the Walmart parking lot.

The 79-year-old female driver of the westbound vehicle was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital by Beacon Ambulance for what are believed to non-life threatening injuries.

The 22-year-old female driver of the eastbound vehicle received minor injuries but denied needing medical treatment for those injuries.

Iron Mountain Police were assisted on scene by Beacon Ambulance as well as the Iron Mountain Fire Department who responded for fluid clean up.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
