WABENO, Wis. - Florence's Cole Dollar decisioned Elcho's Joey Johnson 7-3 and captured the 170-pound weight class Saturday in the Rebel Invitational high school wrestling tournament.
Dollar was the only area champion, upping his season record to 8-1.
Crandon took team honors with 197, followed by Tomahawk at 183. Norway finished seventh, 114; Florence eighth, 109.5, and Kingsford 15th, 30.
"Crandon looks like the team to beat in the conference," Florence Coach Jerry Paulson said.
The Bobcats added a second from Danny Jones (113), who was pinned in the finals by unbeaten Dylan Willemssen of Athens.
Florence also posted a third from Shawn Paulson (120), fourth from Andrew Kelley (126) and sixths from Ethan Brown (138) and Tommy Lindow (220).
John Lemanski (132) and Anthony Kligis (152) each tallied on pin.
Norway notched runner-up awards from Zac DeCremer (106), Donny Houle (120) and Cayleb Winkler (126).
In title matches, unbeaten Nick Diny of Wausau East pinned Winkler and Patrick Witz of Wausau East decisioned Houle.
"We wrestled well for our first matches on the season, and for some of us, first matches ever," Knights coach Nick Burklund said. "Yes, I think we expected to do a little better, but seventh was our best finish as a team at this tournament.
"For a first tournament, this is a tough one with a lot of tough Wisconsin schools who had some matches under their belt. We need this type of competition to make us better through the season and help us reach our goals."
The Knights tacked on a fourth from Taylor Bonetti (160) and sixth from Timothy Huddleston (113).
Jake Rehn (170) and Jorden Neumann (182) and Patrick Guffy (220) each tallied thier first varsity wins and pins.
Kingsford's Zach Jones (106) wound up fifth.
