Norway’s Heather Evosevich (14) pulls down a rebound next to teammate Bailey Grayvold (30) during Tuesday’s non-league girls basketball contest.
"These girls have been working so hard, they've never seemed like they're tired," said Knights coach Carli Kelly, her eight-girl varsity roster now down to seven after an injury last week to Melanie Kurth.
"Maybe because we're such a small team and they don't get many breaks, they've kind of conditioned themselves," Kelly added. "They didn't look tired at all tonight."
Heather Evosevich dominated the game inside, posting a double-double of 17 points and 14 of Norway's 29 rebounds.
"She's been playing really good," Kelly said. "She's been getting lots of rebounds. She's playing well and been getting good looks thanks to good passes to her."
"She was a problem for us and we know that," Nordics coach Mike Roell said. "They took advantage of our 1-3-1 defense with the angle passes."
Bailey Grayvold added 14 points for the Knights, sinking three triples. Rachel Conery added two treys and nine points.
Norway used a 13-0 spurt in the first quarter to take command early.
"You have to credit Norway's defense," Roell said. "Their quickness created a lot of problems. We couldn't get away from them."
The Knights help force North Dickinson into 29 turnovers.
Miranda Jacobson's 13 points led the Nordics. Elizbeth Charlevoix added 4, as did Marissa Jauquet.
"I thought we played hard," Roell said. "We'll get better playing teams like this. It'll be better for us down the road."
Norway's jayvees also won.
Norway (4-1) plays at Negaunee Friday, while the Nordics (0-4) visit Carney-Nadeau.
