Trojans topple Nimrods

CRYSTAL FALLS - Forest Park built a 27-9 halftime lead and cruised past Watersmeet 59-34 in non-conference girls basketball Friday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

Lexi Gussert's 29 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists led the unbeaten Trojans. Gussert scored 10 in the opening quarter.

"We started off a little flat, then got rolling," Forest Park Coach Jeff Syrjanen said. "In the second quarter we really had it going."

Forest Park sophomore Kelsi Hendrickson tallied seven points, three assists and three steals. Sierra Robarge added three steals.

"Kelsi Hendrickson had a nice floor game," Syrjanen said. "Everybody played a lot of minutes."

Michaela Burke paced Watersmeet with 21 points.

Forest Park (6-0) visits Florence on Tuesday.

Forest Park won the junior varsity game.
