IRON MOUNTAIN - A 36-year-old Norway man was sentenced on Monday to two years probation with the first six months in the county jail after authorities discovered an illegal marijuana grow operation at his place of residency on March 6.
Christopher Bennett's attorney Beth Lacosse of Menominee said her client had good intentions of obtaining the proper paperwork to grow and sell marijuana plants for medicinal use. She said his roommate had the paperwork and had quit residing at the residence.
Lacosse noted her client has since been certified and is legal within the limits of Michigan law to use marijuana and asked that he be allowed to during his probation.
