ESCANABA - Two Escanaba men have been arrested in connection with a felonious assault investigation in Delta County.
Det. Sgt. Matt LaBonia from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post said the incident occurred in Wells Township at approximately 1 p.m. (Eastern time) on Monday.
Troopers were called to the scene in Wells Township after a 911 call was received by Delta County Central Dispatch.
The caller advised of an injured man attempting to walk away from the scene, Sgt. LaBonia said. The victim, a 41-year-old Bark River man, was later located by responding officers and transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital by Delta County EMS.
The victim was treated for head injuries and later released.
The first suspect, a 31-year-old Escanaba man, was arrested after a brief foot chase when he attempted to flee from a traffic stop. The suspect is facing additional charges for resisting and obstruction police and narcotics violations.
The second suspect, a 23-year-old Escanaba man, was arrested without incident at a Delta County residence earlier this morning, Sgt. LaBonia said.
Names are not being released, pending an arraignment in Delta County District Court.
Troopers were assisted by the Delta County Sheriff Department, UPSET officers, Escanaba Public Safety Department and Delta County EMS.
The incident remains under investigation.
