IM man faces felony tampering with food charge

IRON MOUNTAIN - An Iron Mountain man has been bound over to Dickinson County Circuit Court on a charge of placing harmful objects in food.

Dalton Ursulean, 23, faces the felony charge after an officer from the veteran's hospital ordered some food at McDonald's Restaurant in Iron Mountain.

Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Brule said the allegation is that Ursulean deliberately spit in the officer's sandwich.

A preliminary hearing was held in District Court on Wednesday. Arraignment is set in Circuit Court before Judge Mary B. Barglind at 1 p.m. on Jan. 21. The charge carries a 10-year prison sentence.

Ursulean is also charged with being a habitual offender, fourth offense.
