One injured in IM crash

IRON MOUNTAIN - One person was injured in a car/school bus accident Friday in Iron Mountain.

The crash occurred at 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Carpenter Avenue and Woodward Avenue.

Lt. Ed Mattson of the Iron Mountain Police Department said that an 87-year-old man was driving a passenger car north on Carpenter Avenue when he attempted to turn left onto Woodward Avenue.

His vehicle then turned into the path of a school bus that was south bound on Carpenter Avenue.

Lt. Mattson said that the 87-year-old man was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

The bus driver, a 49-year-old male, and three passengers on the bus were not injured, Lt. Mattson added.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Kingsford Public Safety Department and Beacon Ambulance.
