LENA, Wis. - Trent Heath scored team highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds, as Goodman-Pembine topped Valley Christian 77-62 in the championship of the Lena Holiday Tournament here Friday night.
It's the first time in the 34-year history of the Lena tourney that either Goodman or Pembine came out on top.
"First and foremost, I'm really excited for the guys," Patriots coach Paul Whitt said. "I'm really proud of the whole team. It really was a team effort."
Goodman-Pembine defeated Oshkosh Valley Christian 77-62 to win the Lena Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament. Heath, earning tournament MVP honors, canned three treys and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. He was joined in double digits by Brennan Pierquet with 18 points, Roman Grebin with 16 points, Alex Whitt with 12 and Randall Bose with 10.
"Roman really sparked us early," Whitt said. "Trent just brought quality basketball. Brennan has been dominating inside for us, and he did it again tonight."
Valley Christian was led by Ryan Van Maanen's 27 points and Tyler Van Maanen's 21.
Goodman-Pembine (6-3) led by three after the first quarter and increased the margin to 10 points by the break.
The Patriots play Laona Thursday.
