IRON MOUNTAIN - Zita Marie Perron, 88, of Iron Mountain, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Sheboygan, Wis., daughter of the late Pious and Anna (Groh) Perron. She attended St. Domenic School in Sheboygan, graduating from North High School in 1942. She and Ernest moved to Wyandotte, Mich., after their wedding, and then to Iron Mountain, where they would call home and raise their family. She worked at the Red Owl Store as a checkout clerk, then for Khoury Inc. making furniture. She then went to work for Dickinson County Hospital in the kitchen, where she would later retire. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

ZITA PERRON

Zita's greatest love was her family. She was a loving, kind, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family. From the early days camping at Peavey in a tent with the four kids; to the late night card games with her husband and her in-laws; to her Friday nights with her kids scratching their Lotto tickets. She also loved to just sit and do her crossword puzzles, and Heaven forbid she should ever miss her Sunday morning coffee with her family after church.

Zita was an exceptional cook and baker. She could cook anything from the woods or the water and make it taste fantastic. When it came to filleting fish, she was the fastest and best in the family. She enjoyed making all her special cookies and baked-goodies for her family. She also enjoyed making all those special meals that her family came to love.

Zita is survived by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, Ernest Perron of Iron Mountain; daughters, Sandy Crosslan of Goodman, Wis., and Sharon (Dennis) Izzo of Kingsford; sons, Ron (Mary Ann) Perron of Iron Mountain and Don (Linda) Perron of Kingsford; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary of Sheboygan; many nieces and nephews.

Zita was preceded in death by her parents, Pious and Anna Perron; a brother, Florian; a sister, Louise; a granddaughter, Becky; great-granddaughters, Desi and Angela; and a son-in-law, David Crosslan.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral service will follow Friday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
