CRYSTAL FALLS - An Iron River man has been sentenced to serve a minimum of one and a half years in prison for charges stemming from a July 8 standoff incident in Iron River Township.

Bobby Joe Nordstrom, 37, was sentenced Monday in Iron County Trial Court on one felony count of felon in possession of a firearm and one felony count of felonious assault.

The maximum sentence is seven and a half years in prison.

Additional charges of felonious assault and possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol were dismissed in a plea deal.

Nordstrom had previously testified that on July 8, he possessed a firearm and pointed it at a male relative. As a convicted felon, Nordstrom cannot legally possess firearms.

Following a brief standoff with authorities, Nordstrom turned himself in. No one was injured in the incident.
