NORWAY - Team Norway Alpine Ski Racing Team is preparing for the next four weeks of intense training and competition.
Most of the team will be competing in various events throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. Other athletes will be traveling to different skills camps put on by the United States Ski Association (USSA) in the Central Region.
"The travel schedule is very intense for the young athletes as they pursue their ski racing careers," Team Norway program director Ron Lawrence said. "This is always an important phase of our season. We are right in the middle of our competition phase with the pressure of each athlete to perform at a very high level.
"The high school ski racing is now in full swing with the USSA races and International Races (FIS) being also put in the mix of their extremely busy competition schedule."
Lawrence said the team is making progress.
"Many of our young athletes have taken the next step in their skiing," Lawrence said. "I am really impressed with their dedication and hard work. I have seen a lot of improvement. Our coaching staff has really worked hard with the athletes to get them competitive and challenged them to be very well prepared."
"I feel the next four weeks we will see a lot of good things coming from our Team Norway ski racers."
